City police like to sit in front of the saw and mower repair shop on hwy 15-501 and 24-27 clocking with forward and rear facing K-band radar. Also anytime, anywhere they are also patroling and using radar throughout the city limits.

Comment (7/2003): I have been driving for a while and moved here from New Jersey. I have never had a ticket of any sort, but I will say this. I went to a town called Pinehurst and had to go through carthage. Lets just say this is the most redneck town and you better do the speed limit or else those country cops will pull you. They have nothing else there to do and the last crime was probably in 1847. Either way watch your speed entering into that hillbilly town. The speed goes from 55mph to 35mph and as soon as you pass the liquor store, WATCH OUT! DONT DEPEND ON RADAR. The cops may still your teeth.

Travelling South on 15-501 (as toward Pinehurst area or Myrtle Beach), Smokey is usually sitting off sides of the road. Speed limit quickly reduced from 55 to 45 to 35 in a matter of less than 1 mile. Be doing 35 when you reach the Carthage city limit, and particularly when rounding the turn where S.R. 24 veers to the right. When coming north, Smokey sits in the shopping plaza to the left. Again, rapid speed limit reduction in this direction.
