On St Rd 70 east of Arcadia just past the State Prison are at least 3 FHP protrolling in the area and pulling as many as 10 speeders or more a day in the area.I watched as many as 4 in an hour and seen 12 speeders in an 8 hour day.Its a very rural area ,nothing but pasture land and speed limit is 60 mph and no residencancy for miles. The highway is a straight road connecting the West coast to the East coast and many travelers using the 2 lane route
Comment (6/2006): You're absolutely right. DeSoto County is one of the worst for these types of dealings and SR 70 is a trap in itself. As for that particular area, anyone that lives in the county (or surrounding counties, for that matter) know to slow down through there. It also seems as though they refuse to fix the road for that reason.
Comment (10/2006): This is not a speed trap. FHP only has 3 troopers to cover 5 counties. If you saw 3 in the area it had to be an interdiction unit that operates infrequently in the area. You should pay more attention to the control room or your outside patrol vehicle while working at DCI
Comment (02/2008): I agree with you guy, i was about to fall in their trap for several times, however i was behind other speeders and they were caught,as soon as you enter to Desoto county coming from east to west there is a curve and they are right behind the bushes and right after you pass the state prision going from west to east you\'ll see them. So, just be careful with the speed sing..
