Calera does two things here; either a patrol car hiding on the road going into the football field (speed limit abruptly goes from 40 to 30mph over a very short distance) or frequent Seatbelt Law / DUI checkpoints at the same area. Beware, this is a small town that gets a lot of money off tickets here, so be on guard going down Highway 25 either direction through Calera.

Comment (7/2006): I would like to comment on your speed trap listing. Your information provided is incorrect and should be noted. The reason for you say hiding in the football field is actually patrol activity for the park location not issuing speed citations. The reasons for numerous roadblocks is for safety purposes for officers. The area is more than two lanes and provides a buffer for traffic and the park is a good location for vehicles to pull into for violations.

Comment (11/2006): Regardless of why the cops are out there, the point is to slow down and go the speed limit. Cars do come w/ brakes. I have noticed people flying down 31sth going toward Jemison and the speed limit is 55, but people drive at least 60-65mph. People also love to get on your bumper as well if you go the speed limit.
