Troopers and Boone PD love to get people driving back from Blowing Rock late at night, most commonly on weekends, ie drunks. Especially coming around that last curve into Boone...

Comment (1/2003): Even though that stretch of road is fun to drive fast, keep the foot light. It'll save you a big headache. Especially, if you are from out of town.

Comment (11/2002): NC State Troopers are very active at the bottom of hills, waiting for motorists who coast downhill a bit over the speed limit. Tickets are not uncommon for 10 - 14 mph over limit (limit is 50).

Comment (7/2003): I have noticed that the most likely area for them to sit is at one of the three spots: 1)the entrance to the Blowing Rock Cemetary (BRPD will sit here too) 2)the BP gas station either just before you round the curve to Mystery Hill and Tweetsy, or just after you pass Mystery Hill going to BR 3)MOST OFTEN at night they will be sitting on the straight-away aiming more toward people heading from BR to Boone just after you come around the curves passing Tweetsie RailRoad...I've often sped along up until Tweetsie, and just laid-off and let the other guys get nailed who didn't know. This spot is right beside a Flower Shop.

Comment (5/2004): Now the Blowing Rock police have jumped on the bandwagon, they like to sit in the Tanger Outlet parking lot where 321 and 321 business split. They couldn't get me for speeding because I was stopped at the red light, so officer Greer fabricated a reckless driving ticket because he didn't like my loud motorcycle pipes. Much more serious offense with mandatory court appearance - I showed up with my three witnesses this week to fight the charges but they "only accept guilty pleas on administrative court day". There must be something unconstitutional about that - they had over 900 cases on the docket 5-19-04 How much money do you think Watauga County courthouse is raking in?
