The local Beulaville police officers have two primary locations to clocking would be speeders, one on each end of the town. Both will be on the right hand side of the street if one is heading from Jacksonville to Kenansville down Hwy. 24. The first is located behind a large church sign in the parking lot of a large brick church just as you are entering town. The second is place is just off of the street in a car wash parking lot. In both places the officers tend to face their vehicles toward Jacksonville.
Comment (9/2003): Beulaville has always been a speed trap. I have had friends ticketed for going ONE mile over the speed limit. Yes, one m.p.h. over the speed limit, I've seen the actual tickets. You will not be given a warning, and god forbid you have out of state tags. The primary target here are military people and those that just dont know any better. Since the town all but shuts down at 6:30 p.m., the cops have nothing better to do.
Comment (6/2004): Yes, I actually travel through there often. I think the entire town government relies on speeding tickets, but I haven't been stopped for going 5 mph over. Also, the Pizza Village across from the car wash mentioned is a pretty popular cop stop.

This is the typical small southern town trap targetted at out of state beach traffic or Marine families travelling to Top Sail, Emerald Isle, or Camp Lejeune. There is nearly 90% enforcement through the 35mph section. Primary targets are cars heading east on Hwy 24 just as they enter the town limit, shortly after coming off I-40.
